Love is Light

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” -MLK

It may seem odd to connect this quote to my workout (video) tonight... I thought about it for a long time before posting. Here's what I know for sure...
Because of the color of my skin, I will never fully understand the depths of struggle that many have faced and still face in this country. I was born into privilege. And. Stepping into that - and owning that part of my story took me years. And. Stepping into it doesn't diminish my own struggles. They are different.
There is no room for guilt or shame - or comparison - only awareness and action.
Which leads me to my video... I choose LOVE. Daily.

I choose LOVE because it helps me to stay OPEN and grounded. It helps me to be more patient. More compassionate. It helps me to listen. It gives me the fuel to take action. Choosing LOVE allows me to serve others in a way I could not do if I didn't take the time to fill my cup.

His words - still mean so much today...
When we pour into ourselves we are able to show up brighter  
- to BE the light - to BE LOVE. 

Choose love. Choose to listen. Choose to stand up for what's right - even if you are standing alone. Fill your own cup so that you can pour into others. One voice - your voice - holds great power. Choose love.
