Permission Slips: Sitting with Uncertainty

Permission slips are powerful.

As a recovering perfectionist, evolved Type A — this one’s challenged me the most.

{ Also because, I’m human. 🙋‍♀️ }

//

Not-knowing.
Grasping for control.
Imaging all the possible outcomes.
Filling in the blanks with imagined narrative.

Seeking.
Patterns.
Order.
Structure.

Certainty.

There’s nothing wrong with us.
We aren’t broken.

Only human.

It’s how our brains are hardwired. Seeking order and complete stories. Even if imagined.

It’s how we’ve been conditioned. To know all the right answers.

To plan, work, achieve. Repeat.

And it’s not so simple.

Curveballs. Chaos.
Knocking us off our plan. Of how things are supposed to go.

Coming back to the present moment requires courage + strength + a willingness to let go.

Being here, now.
Releasing.
Squirming.
Sitting.

With the ultimate level of vulnerability.

Of simply, not knowing.

Believing.
Trusting.
Surrendering.

Knowing.
We’re going to be OK.

More than OK.

Living.
Thriving.
Feeling.

Peace.

Contentment.

Joy.

Freedom.

Not easy, no.
And. It’s a hard we can do. ✨
